Skyline's Illumination Project is well underway, and staff across Canada have been working diligently to replace interior light-bulbs in their buildings with new high-efficiency LED bulbs, while properly and safely disposing of the old CFL and incandescent bulbs.
Bill, a Resident Manager at 150 Mary Street in Chatham, ON, is no stranger to community initiatives. An active volunteer in his hometown of Chatham, Ontario, Bill envisioned installing a Little Free Library on the Mary Street property, where kids could freely access books to borrow or keep, and donate books for other children too.
Connie, a Resident Manager at Niagara Retirement Manor in St. Catharines, ON, has come into contact with many different senior residents over the course of her Skyline career. One of those residents, a man named Billy, particularly impacted Connie and was the source of inspiration for her entry into the Skyline Acts of Kindness contest.
On May 3rd, 2016, more than 88,000 people were forced to flee Fort McMurray, Alberta as a wildfire threatened the community. The fire evacuation was the largest in Alberta’s history, and left thousands of people displaced with few or no belongings for weeks—for some families, longer than a month.
