Skyline's Illumination Project is well underway, and staff across Canada have been working diligently to replace interior light-bulbs in their buildings with new high-efficiency LED bulbs, while properly and safely disposing of the old CFL and incandescent bulbs.
On Wednesday July 12, 2017, Skyline staff got their hands dirty as they volunteered for the first time at Green Legacy, North America's largest municipal tree planting program, located in Puslinch, Ontario.
Bill, a Resident Manager at 150 Mary Street in Chatham, ON, is no stranger to community initiatives. An active volunteer in his hometown of Chatham, Ontario, Bill envisioned installing a Little Free Library on the Mary Street property, where kids could freely access books to borrow or keep, and donate books for other children too.
A rainy forecast didn't stop the Skyline Cyclepaths from riding through the streets of downtown Guelph on their third annual Big Bike ride for Heart & Stroke on June 15th, 2017.
Connie, a Resident Manager at Niagara Retirement Manor in St. Catharines, ON, has come into contact with many different senior residents over the course of her Skyline career. One of those residents, a man named Billy, particularly impacted Connie and was the source of inspiration for her entry into the Skyline Acts of Kindness contest.
In February 2017, Skyline proudly celebrated International Random Act of Kindness Week by kicking off its first internal “Skyline Acts of Kindness” contest.
On Sunday, May 7th, 2017, Skyline staff members in the Sault Ste. Marie region participated in their local Steps for Life charity walk, which raises funds for the Threads of Life charity.
Skyline was proud to host and serve dinner for the seventh year in a row at Shelldale Better Beginnings Better Futures' annual volunteer thank-you dinner.
Friday, April 28th was a bright and sunny day as Skyline's Head Office staff donned their yellow hues in support of the Canadian Cancer Society's "Paint the Town Yellow" initiative in support of cancer research. Staff generously donated their monthly "bun lunch/casual day" funds to this worthy cause.
On Wednesday, April 19th Skyline staff and residents participated in the 2017 Annual Spring Hope Food Drive.
On Friday April 21st, Skyline's offices and communities celebrated Earth Day by taking to the streets to pick up garbage and beautify their neighbourhoods.
On Thursday April 27th, 2017, Skyline shut down its Head Office and Fountain Street office in Guelph to head to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guelph's annual Bowl for Kids Sake Corporate Kick-off event. Over 100 Skyline staff attended this great event for a wonderful cause!
