[Guelph, ON – February 23, 2021]

Skyline is supporting a special project by the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Waterloo-Wellington chapter (CMHA WW) to bring new support services for youth to the township of Fergus, Ontario (north of Guelph).

CMHA WW is launching a 6,000 square foot youth services centre, which will provide services such as mental health and addiction counselling, employment support, and peer-to-peer programs, for youth aged 12-16.

The site will be located at Skyline Community Hub in Fergus, whose current tenants include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, and Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington. Skyline has committed to invest more than $1 million in Skyline Community Hub, on behalf of its non-profit tenants, allowing for reduced construction and operating costs so that more of the non-profit organizations’ resources can be available for programming.

The site is the pilot for CMHA WW’s Integrated Youth Services Network project, which is planning for a total of seven sites across Wellington county. It is slated to open June 2021, and CMHA WW estimates that it will serve over 5,000 youth in the area.

The project was recently featured in Guelph Today : “Youth mental health support site coming to Fergus” and included a quote from R. Jason Ashdown, Co-Founder & Chief Sustainability Officer, Skyline Group of Companies.
