Throughout the month of November 2015, Skyline staff volunteered their time at various initiatives leading up to Giving Tuesday (December 1st, 2015). Giving Tuesday is an annual day, celebrated globally, to mark the beginning of the “giving back” season. It’s a time where charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes.

Below are just some of the ways in which Skyline staff across Canada participated in Giving Tuesday 2015 (and is volunteering beyond into December!)

  • Employees at Skyline Head Office in Guelph, ON participated in a month of volunteering throughout November. We served 2,400+ meals to over 800 kidsthrough our volunteering at “Food and Friends” nutrition programs organized by the Children’s Foundation of Guelph & Wellington.
  • We’re also giving 37 moms, dad and kids the magical Holiday season they deserve through Adopt-a-Family, another local initiative organized by the Children’s Foundation of Guelph & Wellington.
  • Additionally, to “wrap up” our month of volunteering in a special way, Skyline’s Human Resources team headed out to the Adopt-a-Family “Santa’s Workshop” today to help wrap gifts.
  •  Our executive management team is heading out to Gateway Public School in Guelph, ON on Wednesday, December 9th to help out at their Food and Friends program.
  •  Volunteers from Skyline Head Office are participating in Operation Christmas Child in Kitchener, ON for the second year in a row. Last year, Skyline volunteers packaged over 700 boxes to be sent to children overseas. This year, we’ve already packed 50 boxes full of donated toys, books and toiletries, and we’ll be doing even more on December 8th! Our Kingston region has already packed boxes in participation of this great initiative.
  •  Many Skyline buildings are organizing warm winter clothing drives and food drives for local families in need – a fantastic way to give back locally.
  •  One of Skyline’s buildings is hosting a “Free Range Mitten” tree during the winter months – this tree is accessible to the community to give or receive mittens, hats and scarves.
