Plans are underway for an expansive apartment development on East Bayshore Road in Owen Sound that will bring much-needed new rental suites to the city.
On March 14, 2022, Guelph-based developer SkyDev purchased 37.7 acres of land at 3195 East Bayshore Road from Smithcorp Realty Inc. The site fronts Georgian Bay’s eastern shore and was previously home to the RCA factory.
SkyDev will be seeking approval for redevelopment of the site to accommodate high-quality apartments along with central indoor/outdoor amenity buildings. The proposed development is designed to provide for expansive western sunset views with extensive green space.
In addition to being situated on the shorefront, the development is adjacent to the Tom Thomson Trail and less than a ten-minute drive to amenities such as grocery stores, LCBO, retail shopping, golf clubs, and the Owen Sound Attack arena.
The development is anticipated to be underway by 2024.
