[Guelph, ON – July 23, 2020]

On July 23rd, 2020, Skyline Group of Companies was honoured as the Corporate Citizen of the Year award at the annual Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce Awards of Excellence Gala.

This year’s theme for the awards was “A Vision for the Future.” The Corporate Citizen of the Year award was presented to a business that makes a significant contribution to the Centre Wellington community. Skyline was awarded for its efforts surrounding its first Community Hub, launched in 2019 in Fergus, ON.

Skyline Community Hub is a 13,000 square foot space that allows non-profit and community organizations to run their businesses with subsidized rent, thereby allowing more fundraising dollars to go directly toward community programs.

“We aren’t just in the business of real estate investment. We see Skyline Group of Companies as playing a key role in the development of prosperous, healthy, and thriving communities. The Community Hub in Fergus is an example of how Skyline can help enable non-profits to have a greater impact, and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of young people in our community,” said R. Jason Ashdown, Co-Founder & Chief Sustainability Officer, Skyline Group of Companies.

“We believe these types of community spaces could make a positive impact in communities across Canada—it is already making a difference in Centre Wellington and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Skyline Community Hub is already the proud home of local community organizations Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington and Family Counselling and Support Services for Guelph-Wellington, with move-in plans for Integrated Youth Services Network well underway.

“We are very excited to be working with Skyline to build more spaces for youth in need of mental health, addictions and other supports in a way that reduces stigma and encourages quality care,” said Helen Fishburn, Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo, a key partner in the Integrated Youth Services Network being built at the Skyline Community Hub.

“The Corporate Citizen of the Year Award is presented by the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce to a business actively working towards making Centre Wellington a more positive place to live—and that is exactly what the Skyline Group of Companies is doing,” said Dana Burdenuk, General Manager, Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce.

“Skyline Community Hub, which provides tenants of both community and charity organizations with subsidized rents to reduce their operations costs, is a perfect example of an initiative that makes Centre Wellington a better place to live. By making this incredibly generous offer, the team at Skyline is making positive change wherever they go! The Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Skyline team on this significant and well-deserved achievement.”
